I had not intended to write another Langstaff Letter about Trump so soon, but an article from Charisma Magazine by Stephen Strang caught my attention, and I felt I should write an update on Trump and the situation in our nation as I see it.

Stephen Strang, founder of Charisma Magazine, when commenting on the present situation of the border wall and our government shutdown, which has been dominating the news of late, had some insightful quotes from Pastor and Prophet Frank Amedia. Amedia was one of the first people to prophesy that Trump would become President, long before the 2016 election. Here is some of what he wrote in the article entitled ‘February, March will be a Months of Chaos for Trump.’

“It appears now that whatever is coming out of [Robert] Mueller is going to come in February and March,” Frank says. “We may well see an impeachment process begin in March or sooner. But God is going to prevail, and what they have intended for bad, God will make good-not because Trump is or is not a Christian. That’s between him and God. But it’s because this anointing is upon this man to stop and resist and break all of these forces that have been against this nation as one nation under God and against the body of Christ.”

It reminded me of a prophetic word God game me on Thursday evening, September 29th, prior to the 2016 election. Let me share with you how I received it. I had gone to bed and was asleep when my wife woke me up to inform me that one of the members of our congregation, a police officer had been t-boned by another car as he was on duty answering a police call. He had been taken to the hospital, but we were not sure if he had been severely injured. I sat on the bed and out of nowhere I felt God was giving me a word about the upcoming election. So I picked up a small notepad and wrote it all down. I had not and was not seeking a word about Trump, but it just came out. This is what I wrote that night.

  • Hillary won the first debate, but Trump will win the election.
  • It may not turn out the way people think it will.
  • It will be a mixed blessing as there will be good things, but there will also be chaos and confusion.

It was the last phrase that I particularly remembered, “There will also be chaos and confusion.” Actually, there were two more points to the word which I did not share previously.

  • There will be a time of judgment and purging. Revival on a platter of ruin. (This is a reference to a prophetic word that had been shared in a leaders’ gathering in Atlanta in the late 1990s.)
  • But all these things will work out for good to those who love God and are called according to His purposes because God is in control and He is working out His plans and purposes.

The present situation regarding the border wall has brought ‘chaos and confusion’ to Washington DC. One has to recognize what it is really all about. Yes, it is highly political. The extreme left does not want Trump to win this battle or succeed as President. They hate him and will seek to remove him from office by any way they can. There are even people on the extreme right who do not support Trump’s efforts to build the wall, with his proposal to compromise on immigration. As a result, we have deadlock in Washington.

But behind it all, there is a spiritual battle taking place. As Frank Amedia states, “It’s a spiritual stronghold that God wants to break, that this man has an assignment to break-albeit whether he knows it or not. But he has the tenacity, the perseverance, the strong will and the stubborn ability to stand against all odds and say, ‘I will not bend.'”

This stronghold involves the battle over the direction and the culture of this nation. As a friend of mine Chuck Porta wrote recently, “America is in the grip of a culturally correct philosophy that is all inclusive to the detriment of truth and the claims of Jesus Christ.” This can be seen in the issues of abortion and the conflict between religious freedom and LGBT rights. These strongholds need to be broken. Behind the conflict over the wall, there is a spiritual battle taking place.

Amedia goes on to give a comparison of Trump and Nehemiah, “Throughout the time [Nehemiah was building the wall], he was ridiculed, he was harassed, he was threatened,” Frank says. “But that wall was extremely important to God. He gave that assignment. Why? Because defined within those walls was a nation. And a nation is a sovereign entity before God.”

Now, I have said it before, and I will write it again, “Trump is not a nice guy, he is a warrior.” Understand this, God can and does use people, even people who are not necessarily nice people, to accomplish His purposes. I believe God is using Trump to shake everything that can be shaken (Hebrews 12:26-29) in Washington and America. And yes, this is and will continue to produce ‘chaos and confusion’ for many people at this time.

So what should we do? The obvious answer is PRAY. The word of God makes it clear we are to pray for our leaders. Paul wrote, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority.” (I Timothy 2:1). So, in the midst of ‘chaos and confusion,’ let us pray for our leaders, and especially President Trump.

Prayer is also needed for Israel at this time. On Sunday Iran, for the first time, launched a surface-to-surface rocket from Syria toward Israel that was intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. Usually, Iran uses Hezbollah and Hamas to attack Israel. This time Iran attacked Israel directly. Israel responded on Monday with strikes against several Iranian targets in Syria. The tension is very high in Iran and Israel at this time. We need to pray for Israel.
