One of the hardest things for anyone to do is to admit they lost and then begin to ask why.
On Tuesday, the 3rd of November, the United States had what is commonly known as the midterm elections. This election has to do with the House of Representatives and part of the Senate. The President is not on the ballot.
There were people, based upon the victory of 2024, who were expecting these two years to bring in a New Day for America. But this was not to be.
The Republicans got shell-shocked by the Democrats, who are rejoicing at this time. It was similar to President Obama in 2010, when a similar event occurred, and the Democrats lost many seats in Congress.
As I said, it is hard for anyone to acknowledge they were beaten and to examine where they went wrong.
REASONS FOR THE RESULTS
Many people will come up with all sorts of reasons why Trump and the Republicans lost. It seems to me that in the natural there are three main reasons.
1) The War in Ukraine – one of the main reasons. A war that seems to have no end.
2) Affordability – whether it be the cost of filling your car up with gas or the cost of putting food on the table. This was undoubtedly a major reason.
3) The Attitude to Donald Trump – He is hated by many people, and others just rejected him.
There were really many other reasons, including the questions of Medical Benefits and Medicare.
On the other hand, the opposition did not present any alternative plan to meet these needs. The Economy is general terms is in quite a good state, but it has not come down to the average worker.
VICE PRESIDENT’S VIEWS
Vice President JD Vance delivered a blunt assessment of Democrats sweeping the midterms. Wednesday morning, he pointed to the Iran War as the driving force behind the party’s election-night defeat. “But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone,” said Vance.
The Vice President pointed to the war, cost of living, and U.S. relations with Israel as being factors behind Republican losses. (Read more at Fox News)
By the way, the relationship with Israel is a factor yet to be seen. Turning your back on Israel opens up the judgment of God upon the United States.
THE FUTURE
Many will suggest ideas as to the future.
There are those who punished the GOP over costs who will now have to face the affordability test. It involves many of the present possibilities, including Medicare for all and the cost of producing affordability for everyday living. The cost of many items is immense – running into the trillions.
There will inevitably be spiritual words or prophecies regarding the future of America. Well-known prophet Hank Kunneman declared on Sunday before the election that God is “riding over your nation at this time…and I have a massive stick in my hand, and I have come to measure at this time your decisions.” (YouTube)
He goes on to proclaim, “a new season awaits you [America].”
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
As I have grown older, I constantly remind myself that God is still in control. He is still on the throne.
This is the time to remember simply, “My times are in His hands.”
No matter who is in government or who makes up the opposition, we need to remember “our times are in His hands.”
God always knows the future. Although His word tells us much of what lies ahead, still there is some we do not always know how all things are going to come to pass. We can trust that He does.
