“To everything there is a season. A time for every purpose under heaven” declares Ecclesiastes 3:1. “A time to be born and a time to die . . . a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
In other words, for example, even though every year has the same number of days and months, there are times that are more notable than others. There are times when unique and significant things occur. Let us look at some of these.
THE AGE OF ACCELERATIONS
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist at The New York Times Thomas Friedman, in his book ‘Thank you for Being Late,’ identifies 2007 as one of those years with special significance. In a chapter entitled, ‘What the Hell Happened,’ Thomas states that 2007 was one of those years during which a flood of
technological advances took place including –
- The iPhone was released
- Storage capacity for computers exploded
- Facebook had just begun
- Twitter spun off and started to scale globally
- Change.org emerged
- Google had just purchased youtube
- Kindle was released by Amazon
- IBM began building Watson, the first cognitive computer, leading to artificial intelligence
All this has brought unparalleled change to society. Friedman quotes Dov Seidman who stated, “The world is not just rapidly changing, it is being dramatically reshaped – it is starting to operate differently.”
POLITICAL REVOLUTION
At this time, we have been through a political revolution in America, probably unlike any other time in our nation’s history. Against all the odds, Donald Trump has become the President of the United States, and that is just the beginning. November 8th was not just another election; it was a political revolution. Whatever you think of President Trump, he has a boldness and confidence like very few politicians have ever had. If he can, things are going to change, and they are going to change rapidly. Not everyone will like what is about to happen; actually, already there are many people that hate him.
Back in September, before the election, when the polls showed Hillary Clinton ahead of Trump, I felt the Lord gave me a word about the upcoming election (Click here for the entire word).
- Hillary won the first debate, but Trump would win the election.
- It may not turn out the way people think it would.
- It will be a mixed blessing, as there will be good things, but there will also be chaos and confusion.
Already, this is happening as the political revolution gets under way. This period heading of 2017 is a time of special significance, and consequently, we need to be offering prayers for both the President and the nation.
KAIROS TIMES
For some time, I and others have taught about “Kairos Times” – special times in God; a time when the God of heaven comes down from His time (Aiionios – Eternity) and meets man in his time (Chronos – history), and there is a Holy Spirit appointed time. A Kairos time.
I believe we are entering into such a time as this as we move into 2017. Let me tell you of an incident that happened recently, that caught my attention and impressed on me a word for this “Kairos Time.”
On Saturday afternoon, January 14th, I was working in my study at home. I was getting all my accounts ready to prepare my 2016 tax returns. Suddenly, the computer, that was on my desk and which I was not using at the time, seemed to come alive as I heard the voice of a man preaching. As I listened, I realized that the man preaching was myself. I continued to listen to the message. It was a message that I had preached, over ten years ago in Australia, from 2 Samuel 5 about the time King David went out to fight the Philistines at a place called Baal Perazin. The message was entitled ‘The Lord of the Breakthrough.’ I had no idea how the message suddenly started to play at that moment.
Now, I know that God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. So, I began to wonder if this was not God speaking to me and that He was saying, “This is the time for a breakthrough.”
Soon after this experience, I was reading an article by well-known prophetic minister Cindy Jacobs entitled “Word of the Lord for 2017: Breakthrough.” The article was a summary of words given at the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders, when they proclaimed “2017 the Year of the Breakthrough” quoting Micah 2:13,
“The one who breaks open will come up before them;
They will break out,
Pass through the gate,
And go out by it;
Their king will pass before them,
With the Lord at their head.”
Cindy Jacobs mentioned that the number seventeen in scripture symbolizes “overcoming the enemy” and “complete victory.”
The end result for me was that God was encouraging me to believe that 2017 is to be a special significant time; a kairos time when the God of eternity wants to come into our lives in history for an anointed and appointed time, to bring a breakthrough for people, churches, and ministries.
I believe God for this year to be the “Year of the Breakthrough.” I believe that this may be a word for you, so I encourage you to lay hold of it, believe and receive your breakthrough.
