I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and it seems to be the headline of news lately in the USA. There are a number of events that have caused this to happen.

1) The killing of children at Annunciation Catholic School back in the fall. Senseless tragedy.

2) The question of fraud taking place in Minnesota, which ultimately involves the highest levels of government, including the Governor, Tim Waltz.

3) The death of Nicole Good, who was shot by an ICE officer on the street of Minneapolis at a time when ICE agents were seeking dangerous and illegal immigrants.

The interesting aspect to all this is that if you didn’t have a computer, you never watched TV, or listened to the radio, you probably wouldn’t even know that something was happening in Minneapolis. It is in the inner cities, and people who live in the suburbs are not directly involved.

ICE AGENT & NICOLE GOOD

Let me make some notes regarding the ICE agent and Nicole Good.

1) RENEE NICOLE GOOD –

“Renee Nicole Good, the mom who was killed by a federal agent after veering her car toward him, was an anti-ICE “warrior” and was part of a group of activists who worked to “document and resist” the federal immigration crackdown in Minnesota. Good, who moved to the city last year, linked up with the anti-ICE activists through her 6-year-old son’s woke charter school.”

2) DONATION TO GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN for ICE OFFICER JONATHAN ROSS –

“Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman has donated $10,000 to a GoFundMe campaign supporting Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer Jonathan Ross after he was rammed by an ICE-watch protester and fatally shot her in what authorities described as a case of legal self-defense.

“I am big believer in our legal principal that one is innocent until proven guilty,” Ackman wrote Sunday night in an X post.

“To that end, I supported the @gofundme for Jonathan Ross and intended to similarly support the gofundme for Renee Good’s family (her gofundme was closed by the time I attempted to provide support).

“The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer doing his best to do his job, and a protester who likely did not intend to kill the officer but whose actions in a split second led to her death.

“Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues that are tearing us apart.”

Federal authorities have said Ross fired “defensive shots” after Good allegedly attempted to use her vehicle as a weapon during an ICE operation in Minneapolis, striking the officer.”

3) THE VIDEOS OF THE SHOOTING – A number of videos have surfaced that in some way relate to the shooting. Depending on what you believed prior to the shooting, your feelings will be different regarding what these videos reflect. If you are anti-ICE, then you see it one way; if you are for ICE, you see it differently.

4) PROTEST DISRUPTS CHURCH SERVICE – On Sunday, January 18th, protesters stormed in and interrupted the morning service at Cities Church in St. Paul. This was because they felt that one of the pastoral team was working with ICE. The group included ex-TV commentator Don Leman.

Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, commented on the incident as “unspeakable evil.”

President Donald Trump’s administration has already mounted an investigation into this incident, which saw dozens of protesters disrupting the service and harassing the congregation on Sunday.

5) VOTING DEMOCRAT – Liberal women are very much involved in the protests. More liberal women voted for Harris than voted for Trump in the last election. Nicole Good was one of those women.

6) GOOD A CHRISTIAN – Nicole Good was a devout Christian, said her ex-husband. When she was younger, she participated in Youth Mission trips to Northern Ireland. She has been described as a “poet and writer and wife and mother” and was extremely compassionate.

7) GOOD’S PAST RECORD – The Associated Press reported that Good was a US citizen born in Colorado and has no previous legal issues except for a traffic ticket. She was a mother of three and had a daughter and son, ages 15 and 12, from her first marriage, and a six-year-old with her second husband, who died in 2023. She does not appear to be a “radical leftist” or a “domestic terrorist.” Minnesota officer disputes Trump and Noem’s claims that she tried to run over the ICE agent.

8) OPEN BORDER POLICY – We need to remember that this all came about because Biden had an open border policy.

OUR RESPONSE TO SUCH AN INCIDENT

1) We must see this as a tragedy. Whatever this event involved, it is a tragedy that has shaken the nation.

2) We must depend upon the authorities to investigate and determine the facts involved in her death. It is easy to quickly jump to conclusions.

3) Civil disobedience does not solve this situation. It seems to have made things worse, as seen in the storming of a church during congregational worship. It should be noted that 540,000 people were deported last year.

4) It also shows how divided a country we are, and there does not seem to be a means of reconciliation. There is a lot of “hate Trump” at work in all these protests.

It is interesting that unrest has stopped regarding Gaza and Hamas, and Antisemitism. They are forgotten for the moment. If you don’t like the federal laws, work to have them changed. ICE workers are simply executing the law of the land.

5) We should be praying. Praying that righteous judgment will be made and that healing will come to our land. One cannot help but think of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (NKJV)

Lord, have mercy on America and bring us all back to You, and that love, not hate, will prevail.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

1) As best as I can discern the events, I would say that Nicole Good was not attempting to run over the ICE agent. She did, however, ignore the instruction to get out of the car. Instead, she drove off presumably to escape. The ICE agent, it seems, thought she was seeking to run him over. In accordance with his training, he took action, and she was shot. If she had obeyed the instructions of the officer, she would not have died.

2) What if the local and state authorities worked with the Federal authorities, would not America be more at peace and more illegal aliens, particularly those who have committed crimes, be sent back to their homeland? Sanctuary cities are not the answer – they only worsen the problem.
