September 10th was the day conservative Christian influencer, Charlie Kirk, of Turning Point USA was killed by a single shot at the Utah Valley University.

Last week I wrote about Charlie Kirk, and in addition, there was much to see on Television. The whole nation has been affected by it. I have thought about all this and felt I should do another article, both to reflect on what has happened since his assassination. In addition, I want to look at an important issue at work in these recent events.

Before I do that, let’s look at some of the events in recent times.

CHARLIE KIRK’S MEMORIAL SERVICE

If, like me, you watched the Memorial Service from the State Farm Football Stadium in Phoenix, you would be amazed and inspired. It was a memorial for Charlie; at times, it was a little too political, but above all, it was a Revival.

It was amazing to hear people not only speak about Charlie Kirk but also speak about his Savior, Jesus Christ.

All the speakers spoke well, including the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who said Charlie Kirk “changed history.” The one that really impressed me was Marco Rubio, who clearly presented the Gospel.

Approximately 100,000 people were together with those who watched on TV. You will never forget the Memorial Service for Charlie Kirk. He was a Christian martyr. Thank you, Lord, for Charlie Kirk, and thank you, Lord, for his Savior Jesus Christ.

RESPONSE TO KIRK’S ASSASSINATION

The response in the mainstream has been positive to Charlie Kirk. People have come together in places all over America and even overseas, such as Great Britain.

There have been some disappointing responses, including those from some politicians in Washington, TV commentators, and comedians.

But think for a moment and compare the response to George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis in 2020, when a riot ended up burning down a whole lot of businesses and a police station, which is yet to be rebuilt.

Compare that to the peaceful responses to Charlie’s death, with a Memorial Service, especially.

ERIKA KIRK

The most moving moment at the Memorial Service was the address by his widow, Erika. What a courageous and inspiring message she gave.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the message was when she said, referring to the suspect who killed her husband, “I forgive him.”

She has been elected by the Board of Turning Point USA to be the next CEO and Chairman of the Board. She declared in a subsequent letter, “Charlie, I miss you. I pray you’ve had the most amazing week in Heaven.” … “And Charlie, baby, Charlie, I promise, I will never let your legacy die, baby. I won’t. I promise I’ll make Turning Point USA the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen. I promise.”

Lord, comfort and strengthen her, we pray.

LEADER OF TURNING POINT USA

When I heard of Charlie Kirk’s death, I thought that his wife would take over the leadership that God would anoint her in a special way.

Occasionally in recent church history, this has happened. Peter Marshall was a nationally known figure. He was a Presbyterian minister who was Chaplain of the US Senate. He died at the age of 49, and in time his wife was greatly used of God in writing, including “A Man Called Peter,” which became a film. It was a major factor in leading me to become a minister.

Jim Elliot died as a martyr in Ecuador, and his story changed a whole generation of people many of whom became missionaries. His wife, Elizabeth Elliot, in turn, was greatly used of God in the years following.

Likewise, I believe God will use Erika Kirk greatly in the years to come.

QUEEN ELIZABETH & CHARLIE KIRK

According to a report in Newsmax, “The late Queen Elizabeth II took a keen interest in the rise of conservative leader Charlie Kirk and his efforts to establish a youth movement in Britain.”

According to one of the original backers of Turning Point UK, “the Queen was privately briefed on Kirk’s activities.”

“Prince Philip [Queen Elizabeth’s husband] found it fascinating, while she just loved the idea that Charlie was bringing younger people back to the Church.”

A BIGGER ISSUE

A suspect for Kirk’s murderer has been arrested. It seems he had a romantic involvement with another man who was a transsexual. Now, Charlie Kirk used a debate system, and he invited people to present their questions. He had a saying, “Prove me wrong.” It was when the subject of transexuality came up for discussion that the shot was almost immediately fired, which killed him. There is no doubt that the subject of transexuality was involved in his shooting and is one of the issues that Charlie Kirk’s assassination involved.

Let me ask a vital question. What do these four issues have in common? Abortion. Homosexuality. Transexuality. Men in Women’s Sports.

These four issues are at the center of the cultural battles today in our nation.

Very simply, all are contrary to God’s Word, they are contrary to God’s plan in creation, and to take this a step further, they are a direct rebellion against God’s creation. They are a direct rebellion against God. The creator of us as revealed to us in the Bible.

ABORTION

Abortion is the taking of an innocent life. Let’s face it, it is a form of murder because a human life is involved, a baby that has no part in the process. It is unbiblical. The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) tells us “Thou shalt not murder.”

HOMOSEXUALITY

Whether it is sex between two males or lesbian relationships between two women, it is contrary to Biblical teaching.

The Creation story of Genesis tells us that God made us. In Genesis 1:27, it declares, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Then God blessed them in what is seen as the first marriage and family.

TRANSEXUALITY

The idea that we can change sexes is contrary to His Word of Genesis 1:27 that declares: “man and female he created them.” A man cannot become a woman, and he can’t birth a baby. A woman cannot become a man, and she can’t father a child. Identity is given at birth and cannot be changed.

MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS

A fourth aspect of transexuals is men claiming to be women and competing against biological women in sports. Common sense would say otherwise. Men are biologically stronger than women and will always have a physical advantage over women. You are what you are when you are born. So there is male and female, and sports should reflect that.

So that thread that runs through all four issues – abortion, homosexuality, transexuality, women’s sports – is that they are all contrary to God’s will as revealed in the Bible. They are unbiblical, and as such, it is rebellion against God’s creation. Each one of them is a part of the thread of rebellion – rebellion against God and His will revealed to us in His Word (even though they are also against common sense.)

I know there are other sins that people commit which are also grievous to God, but the thread that runs through these four issues today is that of rebellion – a refusal to accept God’s Word. Other sins you are probably aware of, do not seek to make those sins accepted, but not so with these four contemporary issues – people, politicians, and some clergy seek to present them as acceptable to God and thus encourage their place in society.

But let’s say it again. The thread that runs through all four – abortion, homosexuality, transexuality, and men in women’s sports – is a direct rebellion against God and His will revealed in His Word.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN

It means we are at a crossroads as far as the nation is concerned, and in actual fact, there are demonic forces at work to strip this nation of its Christian heritage and its Christian beliefs and values that Charlie Kirk presented.

This means that Christians can no longer sit on the fence and try to reconcile the division. It won’t happen. Vice President Vance, in his speech, mentioned that in the last two weeks, he had spoken publicly more about Jesus, whom he loved more than he had ever spoken publicly about Him.

How to do that is somewhat difficult, how to be a witness for Him, and what the Bible teaches us, and realize that in so doing, we antagonize others within our family, our friends, our workplace, co-workers, our neighbors, etc. The evil in the world will have to be confronted, and that involves spiritual warfare, for it is demonic. But as Erika pointed out, you don’t return hate for hate; you have to love.

God gave us the grace to be true to the Lord even as Charlie was.
