Well the events regarding the assassination attempt of Donald Trump and the Langstaff Letter I wrote about Trump almost being killed, (except I believe by the hand of God he was protected), brought forth letters in response.
I want to emphasize a number of things from this event and include some responses.
AN ACT OF GOD
Many people, including President Trump himself, say that this was an Act of God in protecting him. House Speaker Mike Johnson called it a “miracle” and said “I believe God saved him.” Trump himself declared “I am not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead… The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle.” Trump added “by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here.” As someone said “if God can guide David’s stone He can redirect a bullet.”
THE DEATH OF A HERO
There was a death that occurred at the Rally. It was a man by the name of Corey Comperatore. He was described as “a Christ-follower” who went to church every week.
Here is a summary about Corey.
Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former fire chief, was killed while shielding his family during the assassination attempt at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend. Comperatore, a dedicated father of two daughters and a former fire chief of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company, was present at the rally when the shooter began firing on Saturday.
Known for his bravery, dedication, and faith, Comperatore’s actions saved his wife and daughter. “He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us,” his daughter, Allyson, posted on social media. “He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us.”
He was hailed as a hero by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. “Corey was a firefighter. Corey went to church every Sunday. Corey loved his community and most especially Corey loves his family.”

THE PHOTO
One article wrote “No one will ever forget the image of President Donald Trump, fist pumping in defiance of danger, urging Americans to “Fight, Fight, Fight” just seconds after he was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
It is a photo for the ages and undoubtedly will find its way into books, etc.
Trump is seen with blood on his face surrounded by Secret Service agents. Above Trump was an American flag so altogether it was quite a photo.
THE FUTURE
I shared last issue about how for some time I had the feeling that an attempted assassination was going to take place and it was probably going to be Trump. However I felt the attempt would not be successful. It was not that it could, but rather I felt it would be an attempted assassination, but it would not be successful.
Now being right on one occasion does not mean you will be right the next time. So with that in mind I have a feeling that something major will happen in late September or early October that will cause another shaking in America.
As someone I know says “we’ll see.”
Tucker Carlson, a well known commentator had this to say –
Tucker Carlson, during a Heritage Foundation event at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, described the assassination attempt on Donald Trump as evidence of a spiritual battle in the U.S. Carlson emphasized that this incident reveals deep-rooted spiritual conflicts rather than mere political divides, suggesting that anti-Christian forces are at play. Several Republican leaders, including Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Franklin Graham, echoed this view, attributing Trump’s survival to divine intervention. They believe God has a continued purpose for Trump and America, asserting that spiritual forces are at play in protecting the former president.
Carlson claimed that Christians pose the greatest threat to these forces. “This is not flesh and blood at all. If you’re offended by prayer, you’re taking orders, OK? I don’t see another rational explanation for it,” he said. Carlson warned that the same forces behind past revolutionary movements are re-emerging in the U.S., with a strong animosity towards Christianity. “What group do they dislike most?… What group are they absolutely terrified of and hoping to eliminate? Well, it’s Christians, that’s who it is. It’s Christians.”

EMAIL RESPONSES
As to be expected we received responses to the article an “Attempted Assassination.” Here are some samples.
1) From Ireland
You’ve talked at length about Trump over the years and so I believe that you’ll agree that he’s “not necessarily” God’s man to bring about joy and happiness…..Nebuchadnezzar was God’s man as well when he brought about the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem…..but that God’s purposes will not be thwarted, whether it be to bring prosperity or to bring justice.
So, it will be interesting to see what comes about from this – I’ve felt that Trump was going to win for a while now and feel that his response to the shooting will really propel him forward (though I was confident in 2020 and we know how that worked out!). We’ll all see!
2) Passed on to me from Facebook
All of us, including presidents, must ultimately bow to the King of all kings. He alone can save us from the evil and wickedness in high places. Let’s align with heaven’s charge and determine to pray for this man who is not done fulfilling his assignment. That should be abundantly clear by now. Yes, God can certainly override godless leaders to accomplish His purposes, but history shows He still chooses to use humans as His vessels for change. Even sinners.
Lay aside any personal offense or political opinion and see what God is actually doing. This is a sacred moment in history that should stir in all of us a greater fear of the Lord and a reminder that He alone is the author and finisher of our faith, as well as our future. Pray for President Trump to willingly embrace this invitation to be a bondservant in his Master’s house, not just for the good of the people, but for the pleasure of his King.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Through the avenue of television we have seen history in the making with the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
At the same time we must keep our eyes on Jesus who alone is our Savior. He alone can be the ultimate answer to the needs of this world including the needs of America. America today is a divided nation and we need a revival, or an act of God that will bring this nation back to its original foundation.
So our prayer is –
“God have mercy on this nation and may the hearts of its people be turned back to you.”
NOTE: This letter was written prior to President Joe Biden stepping out of running for President again. This all makes for an interesting election.
